Flattening old things down to plain HTML is underrated and important here. Old apps don’t need to be updated or upgraded or maintained or even deployed. It’s way simpler to argue to keep old stuff around if it’s essentially a domain pointin

I too have a positive view of Shopify engineers. But no longer Shopify management. It went from bottom up trust basted to top down AI first and for everything based. It’s very hard to express how deeply and completely the internal workings

But you can just add the space back in! It’s a strict format of six characters, alternating digits and letters, with a space. There is no deviation. You can easily write a parser and a formatter for it. It kills me how often this is a strug

Canadian here. I have a WhatsApp account and the app on my phone with zero contacts in it. Nobody here uses it. But every time I leave the country I need it for some service or business or who knows what. It seems like the rest of the world

Unfortunately en-CA is not really supported as a locale and we have to choose between en-US and en-GB. I’ll usually choose the latter, because despite more differences in language, there is more alignment between Canada and British English

I care about the Lyme more than the rats tbh. That is way more likely to fuck you up long term than anything a rat will bring in this day and age. We aren’t getting the black plague anymore.

Used in production? Probably not yet. But likely tested in production on a small %. They’ve gotten practiced at using the Shopify Rails monolith as the biggest test suite and regression tests for Rails and Ruby.
