I don't see any benchmarks showing this as "faster." Seems like a pretty serious claim. From the Firebase JavaScript SDK, I can do one thousand individual gets with a 3.4k payload at 1-2ms each. http://jsfiddle.net

A lot of the join functionality can now be simulated by using functions to effectively create views or map reduce data to distilled output. We've got a lot more to come on this front. Functions was just first on the list.

And one advantage to this is that it anything that can view a web page can reach it. I don't have to ask my grandma to install an app on her phone to get a picture on her desktop computer from me : )

I doubt that vehement hatred of 7 million people's views will sway them to the cause either. It's just a bit hard to convince people to respect your beliefs while dancing atop their own--narrow-minded or otherwise.

If you want to write code instead of back ends, this is the tool for you. Don't waste a minute dealing with servers and databases and real-time technologies. Just get Firebase and build your product.
