All of your negative points remind me of Finland. Perhaps all of us Nordic folk suffer from some von Trier-ish ailment, where we focus on what's wrong instead of how good we have it here.

Paul Allen has published some of his recent estimates here: https://plus.google.com/117388252776312694644/posts/EwpnUpTk... I can't comment on his methodology, but at least he clearly explains how he came to his conclusion.

The app comes with 10 free translations. Then there's a charge of $.99 for an additional 10 and $8.99 for an additional 100. That has got to be the most inconvenient pricing model out there.

Where do you have to click to display a submenu? At least for me it all works on hover, while clicking will open another page.

I'm having trouble figuring out what the "Create one now, free"-button does. What am I creating? Also, "plan the same trip" doesn't make it immediately obvious that you're planning a trip together with other people and not just planning to

Can you still review an app you "purchased" with a promo code? Seems like a flaw to allow people who didn't pay for the app to rate it. This would also allow giving away codes in exchange for a certain amount of stars.

Wasn't the volume key snapshot feature in Camera+ done as an undocumented easter egg? Apple's developer guidelines at the time clearly stated that you have to list all hidden features upon submitting the app for review. I believe you had to

It replaces SMS when the recipient has a device that supports it. Otherwise it'll just send an SMS. The send button is green for SMS and blue for iMessages. But the point is indeed that the user doesn't have to think twice about it.

I had the pleasure of beta testing the app for a while before it was launched and thought the price cheap. It's really interesting to see how many people have come up with issues with either pricing or the features without trying the app fi

I find it extremely uncomfortable to partake in these discussions (outside HN, of course). The Macrumors poll effectively claims over 50% of the units are defective. It seems not that many people have a problem with this kind of reasoning.

Do we even know for a fact that Apple contacted the show? She just said they weren't happy about it, which I took as a follow-up on the joke. They never mentioned Apple insisting on a formal apology, it just got reported so that it was impl

All of my sites on Finnish servers have a load time under 1.5 seconds. Everything in Canada or the States fluctuate between 1.5 and 7 seconds.
