ctrl-q will give you Visual Block mode. If you modify your .vimrc and remove the 'Windows friendly' settings, the ctrl-v binding should work, I think.

Another good method is to get the sites IP address (`nslookup` or `dig` are good tools for this. Hell, `ping` will do it for you too). Then head over to bing.com and search for ip:addr. For example: http://www.bing.com/search?q=ip:174.132.

On Windows, ctrl+q will get you the Visual Block selection. EDIT: I think it also works on Linux... Sitting on my Windows box, at the moment, so I can't test it.

The attributes you decide to use now may wind up in the HTML spec some day. If that were to happen, your site may break. ...I hear that a bit when this question comes up. Personally, I think the site would be due for an update by then anywa

Arch's news feed ( http://www.archlinux.org/feeds/news/ ) is worth adding to your RSS reader. Firefox's Live Bookmarks keeps it close by, for me. Any possible breakage that updates may bring can usually be found in their news posts as well
