This is the perfect example to point people to when they ask why the company shouldn't just maintain an internal fork or write its own version of an open source project. Actually contributing the code you write is helps _everyone_.

Google has not shown that it is able to competently handle copyright complaints. YouTube copyright take down notices happen all the time for legitimate content, chances are a similar ratio of false positives for site content.

1. Microsoft is in the ad business. 2. With ad and analytics firms claiming its okay to ignore the DNT header from browsers that default it, I can't think of a better way to kill the spec.

True, it's another IE version, but an auto-updating, mostly-standards compliant version. IE 10 brings IE into the "modern browser" realm.

This is huge for webdevs. With MS making upgrades to Win8 (and therefore IE10) so cheap/easy, the death of OldIE is that much closer.
