I had a similar experience with Amazon, they refunded me the extra bluray remote for the PS3 and told me to donate it and even said that maybe my local library would want it (???).

This makes sense as an experment, and I don't really doubt Apple wants this eventually. i wonder what will happen first, Apple pulling the trigger on the switch to ARM or ARM matching in speed to current-time intel. What strikes me as weird

I agree with this. I have a nexus one and an ipad and if apple gets multitasking correctly when I decide to change phone I'll probably go with an iPhone.
