Cool stuff. Worked next to these one summer at IBM on dev tools that ran on PC. But never knew much about them. They were in the thick aluminum case and you didn't touch them!

Yeah, it does sound like this should be focused on verifying firmware, including all future updates. If a Chinese company builds the router at a US Foxconn site, it is still the same situation. If worried about supply chain and inside jobs

I am just shocked to see a MIPs R8000 reference in 2025. It was relatively obscure CPU targeted at HPC and weaker at integer workloads. I worked on a lot of cool stuff, but that project was probably the most fun.

Awesome to see the Indigo2 mentioned. Very fond of these machines, but it was also the first system I led the OS development for. Machines were simple then, just a few people to do the work. Last system before I retired was Grace Hopper&

Etched has an interesting approach, I am not convinced in their public info because it is vague. Could be great or could be bullshit. Well certainly some marketing.

It is cool seeing hacks like this. But this is something to be careful with, as GH100 had hardware changes to meet CUDA fence requirements.
