Is this a common issue? I deleted mine around the same time. I recently moved to a small town where many of the restaurants and businesses use Facebook which kind of forced me back on. When I tried creating a new one the same thing happened

It's been said before but I do believe that most people generally believe the 'best era' was the time around when they started watching - likely high school or around then. I've watched for 20 years, every era is the sam

Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant are all generally good at those things but honestly not much else. I use my Google Home every day for timers and to turn on/off lights. I don't think any of them will ever be the helpful AI that t

I would happily pay for a dumb TV, if they existed. They don't seem to anymore. I have a Samsung Q-series TV now and tried using the smart TV apps for a while, but many were buggy and often had audio/video desync issues. I might b

Not really. You can do that for web, or email, or maps, but for the most part - and especially with third party apps for things like Reddit, or Twitter - you're forced into opening links in Safari. You MAY be given the option to open t

Google's now playing feature is somehow always offline (to relieve privacy concerns) and is somehow still incredible at recognizing even obscure songs. Really impressive. I also love that it just shows up on my lock screen.

The funds are already there. It's not an additional amount, but just a % of the overall agencies budget. I also personally don't have an issue with the VC fund ownership rules but my industry (biotech) necessitates it more than ma

Disappointing that the SBIR/STTR programs are not reauthorized in this legislation. The program expires in 2 months and certain Republicans seem hell-bent on letting it die.

Also in DC. The jobs are coming back but the work is still remote. My office has moved to hybrid schedule of 3 days in office (tues-thurs) and remote Mon, Fri. I know many other offices that are still remote however, and only just now start

Definitely true about most subs, but not all. Some, such as /r/askhistorians, are very strict about low effort posts so what you end up seeing (amongst a handful of deleted replies) are very well resourced to whatever the subject

I wish Stumble Upon still existed just so I could find the weird corners of the web again. This site and Reddit sort of fill that but also don't quite fit it at all.

There were a few points in the doc where some of the Beatles would come in saying "I was thinking about this song last night while watching TV" and they'd hum it out or play some of the notes in their head on the piano. We sa

Looking at the chart toward the top of the article, I couldn't help but get a similar feeling. A huge spike of self employed workers in the early 2000's that preceded the crash and Great Recession. I'd be curious to see stati

The US govt is certainly still involved in propaganda. For example, NASA helped with The Martian.[1] DoD released a game, America's Army, about 20 years ago with a total budget of $32 million over 8 years or so.[2] Also, Pentagon pays

The same way people underestimate their caloric intake, I think unfortunately a lot of fitness apps and equipment overestimate calories burned. A recent 1 hr peloton class I did said said I burned a little over 1,200 calories. It was nearly
