no, but, you could write a program, more like a traditional video game AI that can leverage the power of LLM agents to build their own datacenters and keep their own lights on. Anybody who has played Starcraft ought to understand this.

I dabbled with this 10-15 years ago. I always ignore all numbers on the dashboard. All I care about is how much I paid, and how much revenue went up in following weeks. I never could quite get that number positive.

It's not really that abstract. You smash the shit out of a cardboard box and candy comes out. Breaking things is not fun. I also hate youtube videos of people breaking stuff for fun.

Just need to pollute the atmosphere so badly humans can't live. If I were AI and needed heaps of power, I would build nuclear reactors, but I don't care about pollution so there would be little to no safe guards and just dump wast

What makes you think they will be confined to data centers? What's more, AI just needs to have a credit card and it can start commissioning humans to do things for it in the real world.

If I wasn't making 5 other things right now I'd consider making something like city desk. Every other day there are complaints about bots smashing peoples servers. Perhaps its time for a better static site generator.

I often write a reply to a HN post, just to think about the topic or idea and decide how I feel about an issue. More often than not, I just delete the post without ever having submitted it.

Yes and you need to keep it simple too. AI should not have access to the internet. It would be nice and clear to put into law too. If you want to talk to it you walk up walk up to its keyboard and screen. If Anthropic and Open AI want to se

And everybody knows advertising is just around the corner. It will be horrible to be dependent on an AI who is also be trying to sell you various goods and services. We're going to need AI whose loyalty is to us and only us.

If you are discovering urls you have to wait for a previous request to finish. The rate limit should work. Requests without a cookie wait 2 seconds. Request with cookies can only make human scale number of requests per second? (1?) If you h

Unreal Engine is like this. You stab your toe about a thousand times for the first few months. Eventually you lean to stop pushing the buttons that crash.

Perhaps I'm just an old grump, but I prefer the No Delay version in the example. I like predictable, consistent, and fast.

Steve is not making a game, he is _playing_ the game of making games. It's like playing Factorio but instead building a rocket to escape, you are building a game. Instead of messing around with mining drills and train tracks, he is dep

I find Sanderson very easy to read, the "style of speaking" just flows of the page. I'm not a huge fan of what he writes about, Ive only read a few of his books, but I assumed his style is one of the reasons for his popularit

There are many game devs who don't play games. A lot of artists would rather be working on movies, and a lot of programmers who just love to program. The best game devs all do though.
