I work on Amazon Prime Photos iOS app. It's currently 60mb in size, and a good chunk of that is the Swift runtime. Even the main Amazon shopping app is less than 100mb.

I'm guessing they had a really low sample size, especially for some of the lower languages (objc/java). Most of the salary per langauge breakdowns i've seen rank mobile skills (android/iOS) nearly highest.

For anyone wondering why this is necessary, as some others in this thread have mentioned, the standard go way to deserialize json is to pass a pointer to a struct, and the system will "fill" it with the json. There is no easy way

Unless they open source it, yes. Knowing apple, I feel that they would have an off the shelf solution that you could just push code to. Almost like a parse type solution, integrated through Xcode.

Personally I think Swift could really change things for apple if it could be used for server side scripting. An integration with core data, and you could easily share Models on the client and server side. It would make it a no brainer lang

My company makes this easy by putting a demo video out every 6 months or so. It's always a bit behind in the feature set but its better than nothing. I guess my point is try to look for resources your company puts out before trying to
