CGNAT'ed IP address? I get occasional CloudFlare blocks at home from some hobby-related websites I visit maybe once a week, and I know that no one else in my house is doing anything to hit rate limits.

Yeah I switched to Windows 11 recently and was a little annoyed by that - Notepad was always a place to paste formatted junk to get the plaintext - I don't need anything persisted.

I have seen improvements for myself but overall it's made thing worse. While it is a HR problem (lazy employees will always be lazy, clueless manager will never deal with issues), AI has really amplified the problems. Previously, lazy

Yeah I got MacOS freezes sometimes - never checked Activity Monitor to see why though. On Windows it's usually the hard drive being over-used that makes things drag for me.

I think most (all?) Steam games link steam_api.dll (or something like that) which somehow figures out the running Steam process and thus the Steam ID, and then does a HTTP API request to check that you own the title. Like 15 years ago Steam

Not sure about the early days - I got a Quake II CD in the early 2000s that didn't need a CD key. Doom 3 and Quake 4 required CDs, at least at release, but after a little while no CD patches were released.

I wish! My boss at least is checked out and lazy, so he's completely missing the fact that the rest of my team is pushing AI-generated patches that immediately fail testing because they didn't bother to sanity test before pushing.
