This is a fundamentally wrong understanding of how reading works. This way may be ideal for close reading but full speed reading needs the whole page and the ability to bounce around visually.

I really enjoyed this, the user experience is very nice and its a well designed site. I tend to use Gist now because its improved and I have a client for it, but this is a shame to see.

It's built as an affinity group builder. You're the one doing the networking, not the website. It only shares your information in a small group, not en masse. It's very smart really, building webs of trust.

If you foster a positive community relationship, you don't get hurt as bad by it. I don't think its really worth the struggle. (See Swype for example, people would just like for them to take their money, I still don't know if you can buy it
