I do not believe that this is a viable alternative to QR codes because it most likely needs a database to store each snap tag. A QR code encodes the data into a 2D image. This means that I can scan a QR code without internet access, and wit

I had an argument with someone about this, and we ended up agreeing that not everything can be open sourced (figuratively speaking). Although the complete outcome was more of a stalemate, the above was implied from our discussions.

You could give someone you're password (in your will) and hope that they update the credit card info. Otherwise, the account would most likely be closed due to inactivity. I do not know any company's policy on accounts that are too old.

Coinbase is still in beta, and a lot of stuff probably doesn't work. Give it some time. Otherwise I would recommend grabbing your own copy of the bitcoin wallet. Legally you should be fine.
