Walmart doesn’t pay that well and isn’t regarded as a great tech place to work. It’s a good job, but someone who’s really serious about programming wouldn’t work there

I’ve got better things to do, and it’s widely known that finance academia is worthless. The inner workings of the investing world is opaque. That’s why you see people posting logically sounding nonsense

Yes the same funds usually are the top ones. There’s one offs like people who made money in 2008 etc. but it’s the same people always beating the market. The industry is really small, I don’t need a false and misleading academic study

I work in the industry. Generally the winners keep winning. The same funds are always the top fund

You just made this up. I’m tired of people who don’t understand investing writing these aphorisms about it

Basically this. I spent some time in the Bahamas with connected people. Really opened my mind up to a hidden world that’s actually quite big.

I just think the distribution of wealth that we are shown, “only .x% of the country have 50 million” is way off from reality.

I just don’t buy the wealth distribution that they are showing us. I don’t think the government even knows the true wealth distribution. I think it’s also partly political, they can’t go, “hey! Look how many people have 100 million!”

I have a conspiracy theory that there are far more rich people than we are lead to believe, also that most of us are just working to prop them up and keep them rich.

US government trying to claw back the money they printed. It’s too late, everyone who was holding assets will lord over the day job having hardworking Americans that weren’t so lucky. Monetary stimulus -> crypto. Thanks FED!

Java is miserable to write. You don’t realize this until you work with other languages. It was literally built with guardrails to keep enterprise coders from getting too creative

I made a post about this yesterday and got torn apart for it. It’s the hard working professional class that suffers from high taxes. The people who do everything right. The rich evade

I’m saying the tax argument is flawed. They are debasing wages and acting like that’s not the case

Work hard! Don’t worry if we print money and triple the cost of your house and new mortgage! You are in the top 15%! Look you only pay 20% of the taxes, never mind all that money we printed! It’s not a tax!

It’s getting to that point, absolutely. You live one time, and are spending it paying for others. This is out of control

It’s not at that point yet, but now more than ever as a hard working professional you are carrying others on your back. Massively inflating asset prices are like stealing money out of your pocket if you aren’t fully invested and leveraged.

My honest opinion is the hard working professionals making 150-350k are getting hosed. Pay the majority of taxes in this country so that other people can loot, riot, and collect welfare. Asset prices debasing everyone’s wage due to rampant

Spot on. Right now you are better off gambling your life savings on crypto than working hard to get promoted. Jobs aren’t paying enough.

I know a lot of people whose minds were ruined by psychedelics. It’s something you will see when you spend time in those communities. It doesn’t happen to everyone, but it’s common.

What’s the name for the effect of people always bringing up the dunning kruger effect like it’s the answer to everything? I can’t go a day without reading about it Seems like this and bloom filters. Constantly on HN. Both mostly useless
