here's a blog post i found that does what you need ( http://got-ravings.blogspot.com/2008/10/vim-pr0n-statusline-... ) and then you can replace one of the airline sections with it.

in my experience using emacs reaching for the meta key is worse than reaching for the arrow keys. at least with arrow keys you don't need to morph your hand into pretzel.

seems standard. visual studio releases are years behind each other so they're not going to fix anything that's not critical.
