Doesn't Groovy ( https://groovy-lang.org ) achieve much of this? I remember being taught with it at university for some time before they introduced Java. With Groovy you don't need the class or main method, and can have

Is this Upwork trying to avoid falling afoul of tax legislation similar to IR35 in the UK? As far as I understand, it tries to crack down on people like OP who (in the view of the tax authorities) are essentially employees at a company but

Gitlab is fine for me now in the UK... but it is not too uncommon for it to go down for a short time
