I did this for a university project. It streams to S3 (of Azure or Digital Ocean) encrypted, the client downloads it from there. It's very rough around the edges but if you are up to contribute it's a good base. https://

The way I see it, an important argument is that it won't solve the problem: these organizations take advantage of network effects to build monopolies and that mechanism won't go away. A good book on this is Who Owns The Future by
