This is correct. I suppose this is relevant to a subset of HN audience who attend FOSDEM. Even the talk abstract is worth discussion as it highlights an important side effect of FOSS goals and the current state of the world.

I'd say that people take everything as if it was gamified. So the motivation would be just to boast about "raised 1 gazillion security reports in open-source project such as curl, etc. etc.". AI just make these idiots faster

But then there is the software ecosystem issue. Having a competitive CPU is 1% of the job. Then you need To have a competitive SoC (oh and not infringe IP), so that you can build the software ecosystem, which is the hard bit.

I interviewed with them once. The worst ever interview with incapable rude interviewers, who didn't even know the answer to their questions. They came p with some bizarre offer which I'm glad I declined.

Honestly, the “Notes” app on Mac has at least the autocomplete now and I find it quite useful. I’m very sceptical about all these AI announcements but text editing is case where I think this “AI” stuff can actually be used for good.
