Sure, I was just giving a different perspective. Congrats to Norman Foster for having such strong opinions about architecture, I also have an opinion and in this case it runs contrary to his.

What a strange article—it really goes out of its way to just try to insult every element of this building. It looks pretty incredible to me and I’m glad I live in a country where people push the boundaries of what can be built.

Looks like nice hardware. And great to see the software being released as FOSS.

I’ve been using obsidian also, I just use the daily note with some tweaks. Works great with todo’s autopopulated in new notes until they are checked off, deadlines, etc. Only downside is that I do pay for their sync functionality since iOS

I migrated all my pocket saves to a self-hosted Karakeep (previously Hoarder) instance a few months ago. No issues with the import and I’ve been happy with using it thus far. https://github.com/karakeep-app/karakeep

I am absolutely floored by the depth of this paper. They really explored so much of the phenomenon and were able to dissect much of the mechanism. This is also such a fascinating example of the body's inflammatory response to a pathoge

I previously used Borg and didn’t have any bad experiences, but in the end, just switched my server over to zfs. Simple, straight-forward backup tools with native snapshots, and bit-rot resistance.

Sure let’s start with age verification and get the infra and social expectation in place for blacklists on *any* parameter they choose (for the sake of “safety”, of course).

That project looks great! Now the issue is finding a Chamberlain or Liftmaster opener without myQ built-in. Or maybe I just don’t have to activate it.

I’m probably not as proficient with ZFS as you are, but for me, the basic Ubuntu LTS option you mentioned has been great. I was sick of all of the GUI and bloated features of unraid. Then I tried TrueNas and it was okay, but in the end I re

How about "get fully capable smart phones out of schools now"? This safety argument could still be fulfilled with a cheap, simple phone that allows the student to text / call 9-1-1 and a handful of trusted contacts.

The right to bank should be enshrined in the laws of free societies. I don't care what the business is or what people's moral qualms might be--as long as it is not breaking the law, there is no excuse for cutting off this critical

I listen to a ton of tech, current events/news and finance podcasts. Their radio programming seemed to weaken over the last few years so I lost touch. Are there any NPR podcasts worth listening to ?(asking honestly, looking for recs)

Businesses aren't making upside by putting their working capital in a bank checking account. Mine was making like 0.1%, it's negligible. I would be happy to socialize that upside for higher limits on deposit protection. Equity and
