But on Windows you’re guaranteed that any game can be run without any extra configuration, which still is a big win. I know that proton handles most cases but it’s still frustrating when corner issue happens.

In most cases It’s not about the speed, it’s about data sharing for containers or distributed systems. Filesystem or in-memory doesn’t work. I agree that in most cases a normal database is enough though.

People care more about security won’t use iCloud at the first place. Providing a decentralized protocol probably doesn’t hurt the revenue, but increases the development cost.
