I guess a good way to see it is as The Plan as the DNA, that can evolve, and the processes as cells. Humans are creating the initial functional cell. Then it will learn to replicate, and start evolving. Then work as multi-cellular being.

What is the difference with the Matrix protocol? Matrix is already open-source, there are libraries publicly available that implement it, both for clients and serves, in different languages. Why not just adopting it?

But you can also fake the domain don't you? By changing the /etc/hosts or a personal DNS server.. Anyway, looks like the best option.
