Almost every convenience store in Japan has a public toilet. Yes, it is polite to purchase something but it's not required. Some even have bidet function.

These unintended (or intended?) affects of the AI boom are yet another cause for hate among a key demographic (people who use/buy/build PCs) who might otherwise be pro-AI but because of this are quite anti-AI.

Solitude by choice is one thing. Leaving when you want to, returning to a life with more connections, etc. These men are probably doing this job because it is work they can get.

I think it looks romantic from the perspective of someone in a major metro area. But long term, that sort of lifestyle is only for the people who can really endure that. After a while I think most would not want that remoteness.

The best forums still have users and traffic. For instance, for Toyota Land Cruiser owners, the best information has always been at ih8mud. Reddit doesnt hold a candle to Mud for the depth of information available (for that community.)

The R1 is a body on frame, so a traditional truck chassis. This new R2 is a unibody- so more of a car, less so a truck

I would argue peak car was a little earlier, maybe the 2000-2010 decade. Fewer screens to fail, analog buttons and dials. Airbags, and ABS for safety but without the additional computers/screens.

I've been on Apple since the 1980s. Apple IIc was my first Apple. Since a few years ago, I've chosen to stay at least 1 full version behind the current version and I've never regretted that.
