Lets all pretend that the US won't be doing this in 10 years. Facebook/Google are already working with credit agencies and law enforcement. We make China out to be the big bad guy, but all they do is follow our example.

Linux is even cheaper. I am constantly dumbfounded when I see "lean" startups shelling out for macbooks. If you really want to save money and run a lean operation go linux.
