   There are tons of sites like reddit. Digg, delicious, Hacker News itself...it's not a good sign that Reddit needs to outsource its search to IndexTank, when literally every other site like it can handle search themselves.

   Yes, but according to the FAQ they're ranked like this: "On the front page, by points divided by a power of the time since they were submitted. Comments in comment threads are ranked the same way."

    Nice site, just added my blog. Only problem I see is that if it does keep growing and becomes popular, then people could add feeds of irrelevant blogs, and like most social news sites it would turn into a digg/reddit.

    Things like Lego Mindstorms help kids move on to the next step - maybe Visual Basic or Python. No one starts off with programming, it's usually WYSIWYG or similar paradigms.

    ITA Software provides the back-end for other online travel companies. They don't actually sell tickets, so if someone is misinformed about their site and tries to buy a ticket they are told where to actually do so.

    I never said that the site was bad. In fact I said its simplicity was a good thing. I was just saying that it is relatively easy to make.

    Really? script/generate a few scaffolds, throw in a has_many or two and maybe a belongs_to here or there, code some simple erb layouts and BOOM! If you downvote me, at least reply with a reason.

    Would also like to know. I think for commercial systems you would have to create a solution yourself, or else a commercially usable system like this would be well-known.
