Well "libera" means free in Italian so it makes sense to me. There are also other projects with sound the same such as libre (spanish I guess) office. I like it. But I'm biased being from Italy.

IMHO it's the best FOSS photo application out there. It's cross platform, fast, stable and manages the whole photo workflow (RAW developing, photo management, non destructive editing). Thanks darktable folks!
