Agreed. Many smaller, yet successful Hedge Funds limit the capital they manage for this very reason. Some strategies just don't work at certain scale.

The best protection is going to be execution. NDAs aren't really going to help you in this regard. Just take some meetings, tell them what you're working on and if some form of collaboration is of interest.
