FYI, some MyCloud devices can be modified to just run Debian. I treat my MyCloud as a cheap Linux box with lots of storage in a convenient form factor. If it weren't for that, I'd just build a computer.

Whoa, I've never heard of WireGuard. Looks like a huge performance boost over OpenVPN. I currently use OpenVPN in bridge mode between all my OpenWRT routers.

If you are up for it, learn a little about designing. Read some design docs and stylesheets. Google, Apple, Microsoft all have good ones. By learning, you may be able to go a little longer without a designer. And when you need a designer

I use a DIR-505L. It's a wallwart and runs OpenWRT. 2.4Ghz only, but isn't too expensive (~$15). Has USB/ethernet if you want more. Really convenient and kind of looks like a phone charger so it doesn't raise eyebrow

Darn. AT&T makes you connect their router ("modem") to the ONT. They won't activate a direct connection to the ONT. Something about 802.1x certificates being baked into the router.
