I dont think your comment justifies calling out any form of simplistic view. It doesnt make sense. All the big players are bad. They"re companies, their one and only purpose is to make money and they will do whatever it takes to do it.

Why do you want/need a PCI based card? Most audio interfaces run off USB these days and Linux supports almost all USB audio class-compliant cards.. Personally I use NI Komplete Audio 1 and Behringer UMC 1820 (yes, on Linux with pipewir

hehe! ..I come from Ableton on Win7. But, Bitwig (formed by ex-Ableton devs) saved the world for me as it is a) similar but better than Ableton (ofc subjective) and b) it runs on Linux! Check it out, take it for a spin!
