Facebook's business model I suspect is relying more and more on things like user location. As I recal, there was some blowback from messenger requesting location services in iOS while not using the app. This almost seems like strong-ar

I agree. Run Charles Proxy on their free trial for 15 minutes with the OS X proxy turned on and find out what your Mac is really sending out and taking in. Then buy it because it's an incredible tool that proves extremely useful when

I'm interested in this but the article itself is a bit of a joke and I couldn't find any external links on it for anything more in-depth. :/

Why would you get down-voted for pointing out that this is a dupe. Maybe I'm missing something but I don't get it.

Android is tricky. I'm not an expert at their permissions settings but it seems that some of them are worded alarmingly for over-reaching yet justifiable permissions. I'm thinking for example (not one you listed, but..) that dis

Google's documentation is pretty bad across the board I find, not just NG (I won't mention FB's).

'Nudging' me to update from Yosemite to El Capitan is just annoying. It's one iteration!

No I totally get it about the security updates; but it's the principle that I can't opt out if my own dumb ass wants to. Ultimately I would absolutely opt-in for security updates, but they don't seem to come stand-alone. If

I'm also really purturbed by apple's 'version ratchet' (great term btw). In my case it's the infuriation caused by the 'notifications' to upgrade ... Which you CANT DISMISS! It's either install, or

I've long held such sentiment for MS. Thing is, I've been staring to hate on Apple for such digressions as well... It's nice to be reassured that it's still objectively worse over in PC-land.

Likewise, and Steve is just rolling in his grave. Apple used to be so meticulous about UI. Directly unrelated to the road snapping, but a shining example of this inconsistency: I open up the App Store, and tap on the 'hamburger'

But you'd think they'd do something like '200 users have liked...' A cron like every 5 minutes (or more) after the first 10 likes or something like that..

>defaulted to the mobile browser version of the social network, rather than give up on Facebook entirely. I'd rather use the mobile browser version of just about anyone's crappy app. There might be a handful of exceptions.

To speculate on the final question in the article, I think it will take a lot for the FCC to do anything about it because time and time again we discover that governing bodies are woefully inadequate at understanding such technical issues.

I've used trello for mobile dev; trello in general is cool for some things, but I don't think mobile dev is it. JIRA (and to a lesser degree the stock issue tracker in BitBucket) is much superior for this purpose (imho)

I grew up with this book (TWEC) in the house, and I found this arrival interesting, but it left me hanging. Anyone know whatever became of the 14800 that left with the one guy? Did they ever regroup to put it towards something?
