Other platforms have good DB abstractions (ADO.net, JDBC) though so it doesn't have to be ORM.

Upvote. Joe Celko has a few books w.r.t to SQL and some of them are more than just SQL for beginners (covers tree/hierarchy data, thinking in sets, etc)

I work for a division/business unit of a large corporate. Majority of us use sublime with license. We're (the business unit) roughly about 300-400 developers (and growing) writing mostly Javascript every day.

I very much doubt it. This is akin to "hoping" that there would be renaissance of of VPS/Dedicated hosting. Open Source typically requires people to manage everything themselves, including update. For those who see IT as cost

It did when it comes to distribution channel. A hotel can have a website where people can directly book a room. But people want to compare prices, shops around, hence a new form of ... middleman :D

There are probably a few large markets in Asia: China, India, and Indonesia. The rest don't have as many human beings as these 3 countries. Both Go-Jek (Indonesia) and Grab have raised huge capital in the last 5 years or so. Go-Jek see
