I found the same re: compressed stream, however I also found that hand optimizing the decompressed JSON made for significant performance improvements on underpowered devices (e.g. some old Android phone).

The graph you’ve linked doesn’t really include the bit they were talking about (namely all the time before the 70s). Like there’s a bit at the very beginning but hey it’s kinda flat.

I think some would argue that the interpretation that the EPA was arguing for was itself an agency carrying out a Democratic/liberal doctrine that would (currently) be legislatively toxic. (And possibly both these statements are true?
