In practice, very short texts don't carry very high value so watermarking is (usually) less important. For longer text false positives are not an issue at all since you have a large amount of data to extract your signal from.

I wonder where you got that impression. Several professional watermarking systems for movie studio type content I have worked with (and on) are highly resistant to noise removal while remaining imperceptible.

Same here with 20+ years old mail service on the same domain that has never sent spam with correctly configured DNS SPF DKIM DMARC, getting gmail rejections. I noticed a significant improvement after linking the domain to my google account

Often things can be ported easily without much effort, but the issue lies in validation and testing, there are often corner cases that need to be identified and tested, it can cost a lot of time and effort and it's not always feasible.

Displaying the result of a command as a graph (histograms, plots) can be more pleasant than a bunch of **** bars. An external graphic window works well too, but displaying in place can be convenient sometimes, no need to click or alt-tab.
