It’s actually a real problem because of how we fund schools - with local tax dollars. I’ve seen someone try to claim their ownership of an empty lot as the basis for getting their children into a better school district. It’s a mess.

It’s funny how different countries handle this differently. Growing up in the middle of Canada, I heard about schools closing due to weather, but ours only closed if it was below -40C.
