Yup. The author has now swapped that part out for “Any language can do this.” Just commenting to preempt any comments telling you that the article doesn’t say this.

Jarred just tweeted a few days ago about how little influence over zig he has, funnily enough. https://x.com/jarredsumner/status/1994950394955665486?s=20

honestly as long as they don’t use the home directory ill survive. vscode and similar apps not offering any alternative to home directory pollution kills me. I assume this breaks vscode? Would love a writeup if you have time

Nice start. There's definitely room for a good native macOS chat client, I have tried a few now and none feel perfect. I found two that feel usable: HuggingChat ( https://github.com/huggingface/chat-macOS ) It has a

Just switched from logi options to Steer Mouse myself. You can map the buttons and add chords. The only thing it might lack is being able to use mouse movement as a trigger (eg hold the back button and move left to change spaces). Still loo

Nice, I’ll try it. I assume this takes a screenshot every second or so and we get a video? Semi-related but I’ve been wanting a screen recording tool that drops identical consecutive frames for reducing file size. Maybe frame comparison wou

Wow. When I saw the original for-loop example I was like "ok not a huge deal, doesn't surprise me too much really". But rewritten in the comprehension form I'm like wtf

Dynamic UTIs in macOS started to cause problems for me when I upgraded to Catalina. Setting defaults for 'Open with' on these file types seems pointless as I'm forced to do it once per each dynamic UTI (as far as I can tell).

note: i’m not a doctor or anything related. Wikipedia says “5-HT2A antagonists block the psychedelic activity of LSD”[0], so wouldn’t 5-ht2a antagonists like mirtazapine work well enough here? No idea as to how quickly the trip would be tem

For anyone looking for more information on what happens on the first run of an app in Catalina, see [0]. Here's a direct link to the diagram [1]. [0]: https://eclecticlight.co/2020/01/27/what-could-possib

Perhaps related: "How come someone notarized my app?"[0] It mentions that anyone with an apple developer ID can notarize a qualifying app and submit this notary to the Apple Notary Service. However, the proof of notarization—the n

I remember reading speculation about that as well. After some googling, it appears only speculation that the Music app would be built using Marzipan/Catalyst. 9to5mac writes in a correcting update that “We’ve now learned that the code

Mostly unrelated, but does anyone know how apple managed to make the macOS Apple Music app feel like electron? I imagine that they didn’t actually use electron, but the app feels pretty far from native imo

My use case is making lots of highlights in textbook PDFs and I usually can't highlight for long before it beachballs. PDF Expert is a huge upgrade in this respect. Readdle just needs to add exact phrase searching/finding; then it

I hope your MBP remains that way. I have a 13” 2018 MBP myself and felt similarly up until a week ago. After evading all the issues that have plagued the butterfly-switched keyboards, I started seeing my “e” key repeating itself every so of

Agreed. I've been trying to get my 2018 MBP to do 4k 60hz through my AVR and TV via a USB-C to HDMI cable with no luck so far. The AVR, TV, and cable are each individually HDMI 2.0a or greater, but my MBP refuses to believe that more t
