As others have pointed going carbon neutral is a good step, but should we should keep in mind the CO2 ppm that will be reached at the neutrality point. Is this something that we can live with?

Sounds like the system worked in that case? As in it adjusted to new information that it was missing. This is not the case in the US.

Don't beat yourself up. You can take a leave of absence or internship before completely dropping out. Take some time to try those things you think you missed out on. If after that, you may or may notfeel like returning to grad school.
