Well my Robovac cost $300 and has LIDAR. Not the same grade, but it’s not like it’s fundamentally expensive. You could use RADAR too; sensors are not always expensive and when produced in bulk costs go down.

I think the issue is better described as "corruption", rather than lobbying. Lobbying is a form of corruption unique to politicians, but it's just as possible that someone who has access to everyone's data via the CLOUD
