When writing that up I was looking for a structure who's natural partial order could be neatly laid out in 2-dimensions. But it seems this is not very clear, I'll take another look around for a more intuitive structure.

Sounds like you avoid the problem entirely, wish we could do the same but we've committed to a working in a ecosystem that is still quite nascent which leads to a lot of churn in our deps.

AFAIK pass won't handle conflicts for you (please correct me if I'm wrong!). This isn't a big problem for a password manager since conflicting changes are very uncommon, but for other apps this starts to get more important.

I've been working on this distributed offline-first datastore that uses the Git protocol as the network layer. I'm calling it GitDB (but the Git trademark is getting more strictly enforced these days so that'll need to change

There's a few of these plugins. What I actually want is a plugin that makes the time wasting sites unbearably slow. This way if I need to check something on one of these sites, I can do so without disabling the plugin. Maybe you can do
