So half the students in each year fail and have to retake the class? That seems hard to sustain over an entire education system. Or am I misunderstanding this?

I would be a lot more sympathetic to teachers if their pay system wasn't seniority based, or if it wasn't so hard to fire teachers.

I mostly agree, but given where it was posted (oppugn.us, a site for "rants"), I would cut some slack. If it was posted on Zed's "real" blog, Shedding Bikes, then I would agree with you completely.

Sorry, my comment was unclear. I meant that vimperator changed in order to make use of the type to narrow system, which was not available with the previous one.

If I'm remembering correctly, vimperator used to use a similar system. I think so that you could narrow the link choices by typing.

I should probably stress that I agree with you on pretty much everything except that last sentence. As for the Miller-Rabin test, it's basically a case where you can get a correct answer with an arbitrarily low probability of error. So I gu

One option would be Scheme with Bootstrap ( http://www.bootstrapworld.org/ ). It's a middle school program, but you could probably strip it down for third graders.
