That is a good point. But certainly some of the folks PG observed had always user Macs as well. It would be interesting to know how many people he had interviewed at the time he wrote the essay.

Have you considered Evernote? You can input text or take photos. Then tag them all to keep it organized.

Currently while developing a Rails app I'm using Notepad++ on my provided XP machine. And normally Pico when SSH'd in, making quick updates.

I think you should stick with the framework, at least until your requirements exceed the frameworks capabilities. There is always a simpler solution that you can one off. But is it worth your time to reinvent the wheel? Also, I'm curious -

I don't see the appeal of a tablet. I can't think of a single reason to use one. I like my iPhone - it fills in the gaps enough for me. But I still prefer to be on an actual computer. Tablets just seem odd to me. How do you hold it? Do

Unfortunately - I bet a lot of this is dead on. I can't imagine the device being more open than any other Apple product is.

Keep pushing on. You should be encouraged that the idea has competition, I think that gives it merit. Also - their large team and funding could actually limit them. You will have a lot more freedom to build what you want.

I just ask myself, "Is there anything you can do to fix it right now?" If the answer is no, I feel less stressed and am more able to focus on other tasks.

If you’re able, you should do what comes naturally. Are you a night-owl or a morning person? If you’re asking about how to wake up earlier, I’d guess the former. I’m simply more productive and creative in the AM, so I rise each day at 5:3
