I’ve been having success doing this with AdaptiveCpp (formerly OpenSYCL) bindings in Rust to get PG OLAP and geospatial workloads to run on a metal/cuda gpus - pure rust the whole way through sounds really nice!

I set up like 90% of my vehicles in here - struggled a bit with old VINs for mopeds that basically have no VINs but this is awesome. Cures my ADHD around managing lots of things that need maintenance, parts, docs.

You can’t use those extensions on almost any cloud like AWS, GCP, Aiven, etc. - I think Azure is the only one offering a citus product because they acquired them. Also extension updates are a major pain point in hosted DBs - always lagging

RethinkDB (RIP) was really big on this concept and we used it for a few applications back in the day. Even since then (~2016) it doesn't seem to have caught on to any other major DBs.

Aiven does this and usually has the updates available within two weeks of release. We've gone 10 -> 11 -> 12 seamlessly (and fully online). GCP also has this, but it usually takes them a year or two to have newer versions of PG (

I would recommend looking at Aiven if you want to deploy Timescale on AWS (we use it to deploy on GCP, which is also missing the extension in their CloudSQL offering).
