Hypothetically, if i were in OP's shoes and 'really' scared, I would be going to a genetic doctor instead of conducting my own research. (i would still look up stuff, but that would be too risky to depend on)

perfectly describes some of the top mobile/chipset companies i have worked for. Some of the code is so horrible that you feel it might be worth the time rewriting it. But time is too precious...nobody has time to step back and analyze

scons is a good alternative to make. Make is ok for small projects, but it gets ugly pretty quick...and it allows you to make mistakes easily...

i am surprised nobody talked about security...i am guessing the OBD interface in cars can be used to send commands to various components....could somebody hack into your car??
