The advantage is that the information can be aggregated along with posts from other sources rather than having to visit many different websites individually. It's easier to consume, the same reason why RSS was useful.

I'd be completely fine with QR code menus if the menu websites weren't horrifically bad 90% of the time. Doesn't take more than 10 seconds to scan the code.

I've found that if you push through the trust issue with the expectation that it's not a final answer, it's just getting you closer to it a lot more quickly, then that ends up being very helpful in a lot of cases.
