"Studies" like what? 'The paradox of choice' says the exact opposite. When presented with more jams to sample, more groceries shoppers stopped to try, but less actually bought. Reducing decisions is conversion 101.

Yup. One takeaway I took from the book "Factfulness", is a useful exercise for encountering bad news; ask "would the opposite news have reached me?". The answer is almost certainly, no.
