We stayed in a hotel in Reims, France which had them. Controlled by a remote, and when they were down they completely blacked out the room too. Awesome.

Do they require it though? I've used a few, but it's always been a convenience thing to use the NFC-scanning app; the alternative is just typing in the details manually.

For me it's slightly more convenient than manually entering CC details, but still less convenient than Apple/Google Pay where that's supported.

That's a fair point, it would be more interesting to compare the salary to equivalent, family-owned private companies (although I'm sure most of them don't disclose that sort of thing).
