   We used to use tcl expect before discovering pexpect. Cleaner syntax, fewer false positives, nothing but good experiences with pexpect.

   It is also unfortunate that several of the language developers and related dev communities have come out against compilers (python and jython in particular). This is the (religious) downside to open source fundamentalism.

   That'll be the crux. When you can run most/all existing python 2 code under python 3 we'll see the transition. Until then most of us have no plans to even look at python 3.
