Nice work this looks like it would be so much nicer than fighting with the GUI tools. Using existing component libraries via some sort of importer code looks like it might be needed to gain momentum.

You're fortunate to be in control of your environment. My poor opinion of open plan offices is that I am not in control (psychologically safe) making it difficult to concentrate when needed.

Attending conferences and training isn't a problem. But eventually if you follow kspaans advice you'll get turned away at the border and it will be a huge hassle from then forward. For most Canadians it is relatively easy to get
