I've reached out to a few hiring managers and recruiters and let them know I gave up on applying for their job because their software failed to parse my resume containing 20+ years of experience. I truly hope whoever thought it was a g

At 45 I got laid off from a startup in June 2023 after trying to push through burnout for over 2 year. After 4 purely cosmetic redesigns of the product before we were even public, I just stopped caring. Our none existent customer base isn&#

I decided to downsize my life by selling a relatively expensive car and my condo and see how long I can go without working. I have no desire to go back to frontend development even though I can make way more doing that than anything else. I

More proof Apple is terrible at software and iOS is a broken, stagnant OS. I love Apple's hardware, but iOS is such a turd, I'm stuck on Android even though the rest of my eco-system is Apple (MacBook, AirPods, AppleTV)

It's Trump's fault for telling his sheep not to pass the bipartisan immigration bill which included aid for Ukraine.

I was for 2 or 3 years over 10 years ago. I built apps (mostly web based) for smaller businesses and startups. I'll likely be going back to it after being laid off last June and not being able to find the same level of pay.

I haven't pirated content in a decade but I'd estimate I'm a year or two away from going back for the reasons you stated. So sick of the rate hikes and fragmentation. Once ads become common place I'm out.

I wish someone would make a good weekly digest World News newsletter. Every year I look for one, and every year I come up empty handed. Every newsletter is daily at a minimum.

The way tech companies have been doing layoffs is appalling. This would be my 26th year in the industry if I had a job or could get another one. I have little desire to go back. I hope there's another big developer shortage someday but

Maybe it's just me, but the survey style job application is not as fun and whimsical as you probably think it is. I've probably applied for 100+ jobs in the last few months, and nobody has time for that. Especially when you'r

I'm with you. I much prefer class components. So much easier to understand and work with. I disliked hooks after first trying them on their release, and I hate them now. I'm still bitter that a senior engineer didn't step in

Did they also do a study to find out if water is wet? The disappearance of buttons and knobs in cars is super frustrating. Thanks Elon and all the sheep copying his bad UX.

Exactly my impression after reading the article. I've been saying it since it came out, React Hooks was a HUGE mistake. It fractured the ecosystem into two completely different ways to use React. Personally I find Hooks code much harde

I used to feel the way you do (absolutely despised TypeScript). After using it for five years I can confidently say I was wrong. I wouldn't even consider working for a company still using regular Javascript.
