The Chinese made cars meet the same safety standards as US and EU made cars (at least the ones sold outside of China do). I thought GP was talking more about the safety standards for workers in the factories - which do cost more to meet.

You could just take the SIM card out and never connect it to wifi. Things like navigation can be done on-board (proven when in zero connectivity area), and playing MP3s from a USB can replace spotify. No idea what it might start complaining
