I admittedly flip-flop on this quite a bit. I use LLMs in my work and for a bunch of pet projects I don’t really care much about. For the pet projects, it’s not really a big deal. I’m the only user, and I as the user don’t care how it works

That’s the reason they gave, and I believe them. But I also think there has to be more to it. If your paying users are seeing degradation caused by (likely) free tier users (for years by the way), restrict the free users.

I feel the same way but don’t let some bad blogs dissuade you from others IMO. You can tell pretty quickly if the author cares enough to write it themselves or have an agent do it.
