I agree. The article came across as a programmer griping about Excel and VBA, while praising his/her favorite tooling as the answer to some programmer-centric greivances.

Semicolons aren't noise; you've read the statement before you even get to them so how can they be noise? Noise would be type info added to languages that didn't have it before, such as TypeScript. Generics can get pretty gn

Yeah, I hear you. I'm 49 and it took 2 years before I landed another dev job. I gave up looking after a year and trained for an HVAC career only to find out I was too old to start in that field; I suppose my previous salaries scared em
